12 Week Swim Programme: Build Freestyle Efficiency & Endurance (Online Plan)

If you can already swim front crawl but feel like you’re working too hard for the distance you do… you’re not alone. This 12 week online swim programme is designed for intermediate swimmers who want to improve front crawl technique, build endurance, and swim further with less effort.

Most intermediate swimmers hit a plateau where:

  • You get out of breath too quickly

  • Your stroke feels rushed or inefficient

  • You can’t quite build distance without fatigue kicking in

The problem isn’t your fitness, it’s your efficiency.

And that’s exactly what this 12-week programme is designed to fix. Introducing: A 12-Week Freestyle Efficiency & Endurance Programme

This structured 12 week online swim programme is built specifically for intermediate swimmers who want to:

  • Swim longer distances with less effort

  • Improve front crawl technique

  • Build real endurance (without burnout)

  • Feel smoother, more controlled, and more confident in the water

It’s not just about swimming more lengths, it’s about swimming better. This programme is designed to be followed independently, making it a flexible option for swimmers who want structured training outside of coached sessions. If you are able to attend lessons, in-person coaching remains the best option for personalised feedback and technical development.

Built by an Expert Coach

This programme has been designed by David Ashton, an expert-level swim coach with over 20 years of experience helping swimmers transform their technique and performance.

His background includes:

  • British Swimming & British Triathlon qualified coach

  • BSc in Sport & Exercise Science

  • Specialist in technique analysis (pool & open water)

  • Competitive career including:

    • British National Championships

    • GB Olympic Trials

    • Commonwealth Games Trials

    • Masters World Championships

  • Winner of his age group at the Iron-distance Serpentine Swim

This is the same level of expertise typically reserved for 1:1 coaching - now built into a structured, accessible programme.

What Makes This 12-Week Swim Programme Different?

Most swim plans focus on what to swim.

This one focuses on how you swim.

Inside the 12 weeks, you’ll work on:

  • Stroke efficiency and body position

  • Breathing control and rhythm

  • Pacing and sustainable effort

  • Drill progressions that actually translate into your full stroke

Each session has a clear purpose, helping you build a stronger, more efficient stroke that lasts over distance.

Who Is This Swim Programme For?

This programme is ideal if:

  • You can already swim front crawl (roughly 100m+ continuously)

  • You want to improve technique and endurance

  • You’re training for triathlon, open water, or general fitness

  • You’re tired of feeling stuck at the same level

What You’ll Gain in 12 Weeks

By the end of the programme, you can expect:

  • Greater distance with less fatigue

  • Improved breathing and control

  • A smoother, more efficient stroke

  • More confidence in both pool and open water swimming
